Jewish Holidays 2027: The Complete Printable Calendar
Every Date From Tu BiShvat to Hanukkah
If you plan your year around the Jewish calendar, 2027 is worth mapping out early. That's why we made a free printable 2027 calendar you can stick on the fridge. It's a late year. The Hebrew year 5787 is a leap year, so it gets a second month of Adar. That extra month pushes Purim, Passover and Shavuot about three weeks later than in 2026, and the fall holidays move with them. In 2027 Passover starts in late April, Sukkot starts in mid-October and Hanukkah starts on Christmas Eve.
Below is every major date in 2027, with the day of the week. We've also added notes on the weekends and work schedules that each holiday affects.
One rule applies to the whole list: every Jewish holiday begins at sundown. So for each holiday, we list the evening it begins, because that's when you'll want to be at the table or in synagogue. The exceptions are the minor fast days, which run from dawn to nightfall. We list those by the day itself.

Winter and Early Spring: Tu BiShvat and Purim
The year opens with Tu BiShvat, the New Year of the Trees. It begins the evening of Friday, January 22, 2027, and continues through Saturday, January 23. Because it starts with Shabbat, this year the fruit seder can double as Shabbat dinner. For more on the holiday, see our guide to Tu BiShvat 2027.
5787 is a leap year, so there are two Adars. Purim Katan, the "little Purim" in the first Adar, begins the evening of Saturday, February 20, and falls on Sunday, February 21. Most people only notice it because Tachanun is skipped that day. The real Purim is in the second Adar:
- Fast of Esther (Ta'anit Esther): Monday, March 22, from dawn to nightfall
- Purim: begins the evening of Monday, March 22, 2027, with the evening Megillah reading, and continues through Tuesday, March 23
- Shushan Purim (Jerusalem and other ancient walled cities): begins the evening of Tuesday, March 23, and continues through Wednesday, March 24
Purim day falls on a Tuesday, which is a workday for most people. If you're hosting a seudah, plan for a weeknight crowd and get your mishloach manot baskets ready over the weekend before.
Passover 2027
Passover begins the evening of Wednesday, April 21, 2027, with the first Seder. That's about three weeks later than in 2026, and it's the leap month at work again.
- First Seder: Wednesday evening, April 21
- First day of Passover (15 Nisan): Thursday, April 22
- Second Seder and second day (outside Israel): Thursday evening, April 22, and Friday, April 23
- Chol HaMoed: Saturday, April 24 through Tuesday, April 27 outside Israel, including Shabbat Chol HaMoed
- Seventh day of Passover: begins the evening of Tuesday, April 27, and continues through Wednesday, April 28. The holiday ends at nightfall that day in Israel.
- Eighth day (outside Israel): begins the evening of Wednesday, April 28, and ends at nightfall on Thursday, April 29
Planning note: outside Israel, the second day of Yom Tov runs straight into Shabbat. You'll need an eruv tavshilin on Wednesday, April 21, before the holiday starts. That's what lets you cook on Friday for Shabbat. Counting of the Omer begins on Thursday night, April 22.
Between Passover and Shavuot: Israel's National Days and Lag BaOmer
- Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day): begins the evening of Monday, May 3
- Yom HaZikaron (Israel's Memorial Day): begins the evening of Monday, May 10
- Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day): begins the evening of Tuesday, May 11
- Lag BaOmer: begins the evening of Monday, May 24, with bonfires that night
- Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day): begins the evening of Thursday, June 3
Shavuot 2027
Shavuot begins the evening of Thursday, June 10, 2027. Many communities hold an all-night Tikkun Leil Shavuot study session that night.
- First day: Friday, June 11
- Second day (outside Israel): Saturday, June 12, ending at nightfall
Shavuot starts on a Thursday evening, so the Friday of Yom Tov leads straight into Shabbat. That means an eruv tavshilin on Thursday, June 10, both in Israel and abroad. Expect a long weekend of dairy meals, with cheesecake on Friday and leftover blintzes on Shabbat.
Summer Fasts: The Three Weeks and Tisha B'Av
- Fast of the 17th of Tammuz: Thursday, July 22, from dawn to nightfall. It begins the Three Weeks of mourning.
- Tisha B'Av: begins the evening of Wednesday, August 11, and the fast continues through nightfall on Thursday, August 12
- Tu B'Av: begins the evening of Tuesday, August 17. It's a minor, joyful day that some call the Jewish Valentine's Day.
The month of Elul starts in early September. Ashkenazi communities begin Selichot on Saturday night, September 25.
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 2027
The new year is 5788. Rosh Hashanah begins the evening of Friday, October 1, 2027, and runs through nightfall on Sunday, October 3.
- First day: Saturday, October 2. It's Shabbat, so no shofar is blown. Tashlich is usually postponed to Sunday.
- Second day: Sunday, October 3. This is the day most people will hear the shofar.
- Fast of Gedaliah: Monday, October 4, from dawn to nightfall
If you have family members who only come for the shofar, tell them now to come on Sunday. Our Rosh Hashanah 2027 guide covers the details.
Yom Kippur begins the evening of Sunday, October 10, with Kol Nidre. The fast runs through nightfall on Monday, October 11, 2027.
Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah 2027
Sukkot begins the evening of Friday, October 15, 2027, the same moment Shabbat starts.
- First day: Shabbat, October 16. The lulav and etrog aren't shaken on Shabbat.
- Second day (outside Israel): Sunday, October 17. This is the first day you'll shake the lulav.
- Chol HaMoed: Monday, October 18 through Friday, October 22
- Hoshana Rabbah (the last day of Chol HaMoed): begins the evening of Thursday, October 21, and continues through Friday, October 22
- Shemini Atzeret: begins the evening of Friday, October 22, and continues through Shabbat, October 23. In Israel, Simchat Torah is celebrated the same day.
- Simchat Torah (outside Israel): begins the evening of Saturday, October 23, with hakafot, and continues through Sunday, October 24
The biggest practical point: you can't build or decorate on Shabbat or Yom Tov, so your sukkah needs to be finished by Friday afternoon, October 15. The full breakdown is in When is Sukkot 2027?
Hanukkah 2027
Hanukkah 5788 begins the evening of Friday, December 24, 2027, which is Christmas Eve. The first candle is lit on Friday afternoon before the Shabbat candles. Use candles big enough to burn until at least half an hour after nightfall.
- First candle: Friday evening, December 24
- Eighth candle: Friday evening, December 31, which is New Year's Eve. That makes two Friday-night lightings in one Hanukkah.
- Hanukkah ends: Saturday, January 1, 2028, at nightfall

The Fast of Tevet (Asara B'Tevet) falls just after Hanukkah, on January 9, 2028, so it doesn't appear on the 2027 calendar at all.
Planning Takeaways for 2027
- The fall is easy on work schedules. Both days of Rosh Hashanah, the first days of Sukkot, and Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah all fall on Saturday and Sunday. Yom Kippur on Monday is the only full workday most people will need to take off in the fall. Plan to leave early on Sunday, October 10, for Kol Nidre.
- The spring isn't. Passover takes Thursday and Friday off at the start and Wednesday and Thursday at the end. Shavuot takes another Friday.
- Two eruv tavshilin dates for your calendar: April 21 and June 10.
- Rosh Hashanah starts on Shabbat. No eruv tavshilin is needed, but Shabbat meals have to be cooked before candle lighting on Friday, October 1. Food for Sunday can be cooked after Shabbat ends on Saturday night.
- Late holidays mean cooler weather. Mid-October sukkah meals mean jackets, and in northern areas maybe a heater. Plan lighting too, since it gets dark earlier.
Getting Ready for Sukkot 2027
Your sukkah has to be ready before Sukkot begins, and in 2027 that deadline is Friday afternoon, October 15. That's a workday for most people, and mid-October afternoons are short, so it's worth having your sukkah sorted well before the High Holidays. If this is your first one, start with our best sukkah kits for beginners. Most of our family-sized steel kits go up in an hour or less, with no tools. If you already have a frame, check whether you need more roof covering with our schach coverage guide. If you're comparing options, our guide on where to buy a sukkah online lays out the choices.
If you haven't yet, print the 2027 calendar and put it on the fridge. Whatever 2027 brings, we hope it's a sweet year, and that we'll see a photo of your sukkah in October.
